對於 intent 與 intention 的差異，在翻閱過英英字典、語料庫、以及英語論壇裡討論後，仍不甚滿意的狀況下，筆者有兩個選擇。壹、查閱更多的線上討論記錄。貳、請教已爬過巨量論壇文章的 ChatGPT (CG)。想當然，第二個做法應該更有效率。
在一陣來來回回的討論後，筆者發現一開始 CG 給的解釋攏統模糊且錯誤，大致上就和我爬到的網路文章差不多。接著，筆者嘗試教它一些基本的「議論文」寫作邏輯，且應使用語料庫來背書自己的解釋，其結果就變成了一篇看似專業但內容八股的解釋文章。最後，筆者因自身的資訊專業，知道 AI 應該可以擴大解釋其差異處，終於得到滿意的答案。令人感到相當特別的是，這個答案並非只是單純地將 AI 爬過的文章重述或 rephrase，而是真的有消化過，有新意的答案，因此在點讚後給了評論「innovative」。以下截圖討論過程以及筆者認同的，關於 with intent or intention 差異的解釋。
首先，在問了兩者的差異後，CG 只給了抽像的「解釋」。筆者借機教他以後要記得附上實例。然而，從圖中可看到 CG 給的實例是自己發明的。這邊因筆者已看過大量資料，所以知道其解釋力相當差勁。
筆者接著告訴他，好的實例應該來自語料庫。而且語料庫的特色就是會統計出現的次數，我提醒它要拿那種最常見的用法來給我。結果，筆者仍對其解釋不甚滿意。
在下了最後這道指令後，終於得到滿意的答案。筆者認為此答案極其優秀有新意，甚至超出 native speaker 及有經驗的老師。
關於 intent 與 intention 的差異
首先，讀者應了解許多狀況下 intent 與 intention 被混用，而 intention 則更常被用於日常生活中 Reference。若讀者用心查了網路上的資料，更可能發現許多互相矛盾的講法。這大概也是為什麼 ChatGPT 一時間講不清楚。
然而若想區別其間的微差異 (Subtle difference)，就要記住三個特殊的用法（以下例子來自英英字典）：壹、法律條文例如 with intent to endanger life （蓄意）。貳、形容詞例如 She seems intent on destroying our credibility.（專心致志的）。這兩個用法是「不能用 intention 來取代的」。參、It wasn’t my intention to exclude her from the list.（想做的事）。此用法不可用 intent 來取代。
換句話說，intent / intention 最大的差異必定隱藏其中。
接著從 CG 的解釋中我們可以看到，第一點它說 with intent 強調 deliberate = 有意的，故意的。此說明可解釋其在律條文的用法。第二＆三點，它說 with intent 強調對「目標與結果」，此說明可解釋其形容詞用法。最後四點它等於是總結了前三點，表示 with intent 常用於「專業或工作」的場景，強調對於「目標或結果的意圖」。此解釋符合我在 YouGlish 上看到的例子。
再次提醒，這兩個字常常是互用的，筆者至今也不敢說自己真正掌握了其中的奧妙。筆者相信若真的有興趣，應該從法律的定義上去理解。例如下圖，利用 in terms of law 以及 give me reference url 即可快速找到大量資料。然而，理解後筆者發現其關係到哲學等等太過複雜的概念，因此即不再多加論述。有興趣的讀者可以試看看。
搭配字 collocation
intent 與 intention 兩個字不只意思有些微不同，其實際上使用時的搭配字也不太一樣。以下例舉字典中的用法。
- He’s full of good intentions, but he never does anything about them!
- I have no intention of retiring just yet.
- They went into town with the intention of visiting the library.
- It is our intention to be the number one distributor of health products.
- She had an intent look on her face.
- I’ve tried persuading her not to go but she is intent on it.

for all intents and purposes = 在所有主要方面；實際上。從這個片語來看 intent 與 purpose 的差異在於，intent 是一件事情的起點，而 purpose 則是終點。起點總是在心裡的，而終點則是外顯的。
