On the contrary = 正好相反。可以使用 Actually, the opposite is true / Rather 來替換使用。In/by contrast = 相對地。可以使用 Unlike / compare 來替換使用。conversely = 反之。這個字的概念相當難掌握，強調「從相反的角度去看事情」。就中文「反之」的意思來說，是指「狀況相反的話」。替換用語為 the other way around 並特別注意到其與 vice versa, otherwise 的差異。
Conversely & The Other Way Around
conversely = 反之。用於邏輯上將前提反，取得不同結論。換句話說就是「若 a = > b」 conversely 「非 a = > c」。上圖例句中的 a = 「傳統農業」而 b = 「受各種限制」。反之 (conversely)，a = 「室內農業」而 b = 「全年生產」。
Large objects appear to be closer. Conversely, small objects seem farther away.
此例句 A 是大的，而 B 是小的，所以應使用 conversely 而不是 contrast。
The other way around = 反過來。這個用語也是相當令人困惑，觀看上方影片時，需跳到前後文才能理解，其意思正是 conversely 的意思。
此外，the other way around 還有 vice versa 的意思。解釋如下：
He doesn’t trust her, and vice versa / the other way around.
vice versa = 反之亦然。意思是「若 a => b 且 若 b => a」。
若要描述「反之不然」，那就要寫成 not the other way around. 特別注意到他們的意思和 conversely 完全不同。上圖例句意思是「並非老板為員工工作」。

compare 與 contrast 用法意思都差不多，然而比較的東西包含「相似＆相異」。
in comparison with = 相較於（
compared with = 相較於。此用法原型為 when people are compared to…, people are…
compared to = 相較於。仔細想上圖例句邏輯怪怪的，怎麼會把數字和「去年」比較呢？其實這個是常見的省略用法，原型為 which is compared to the booking last year.
Otherwise
otherwise = 以另一種形式地 = in a different way。這個用法最難理解！影片中提到的例句：
The government should ban or otherwise prevent the sale of cigarettes.
注意到 ban 是實際做法，而 prevent 則是一個概念，此時若只使用 or 連接的話就不平衡。反之，使用 otherwise 修飾 prevent 後，意思變成「或者用不同的方法」。醬一來使用 or 就平衡了，語感也較佳！
otherwise = 否則 = or。注意，這個字用法和 or 一模一樣當作連接詞使用！然而 or 當否則使用僅限口語。
otherwise = 否則 = or。注意到 otherwise 也常會接假設語氣，來指出否則某件「沒發生」的事情「會發生」。
