Make Up = 組成 = Account for
account for 可以拿來和 make up 交替使用，然而 account for 本質上是「解釋了、構成了」的意思。
- Car accident victims make up almost a quarter of the hospital’s patients. 由小組大常見其後接比例詞，如例句中的 a quarter 並注意到其後接的 of 指出「大」。
- Students account for the vast majority of our customers. 可以看到 account for 的用法與 make up 一模一樣。
- Recent pressure at work may account for his behavior. 注意到這邊若使用 make up 「組成」的話意思會很怪。應使用帶有特殊內涵「解釋、構成」的 account for

make up the major sth of = 組成…的主體。此為「小組大」的特殊功能，可以在後面加上一個比例詞。
make up … percent of = 組成…的百分之…。此為「小組大」的特殊功能，可精確寫出組成比例。
Be Made Up of = 由…組成 = Consist
- The book is made up of a number of different articles. 被動化的 make up 意思變成「被…組成」
- Just like my hand, lettuce is made up mostly of water. 小組大常接比例，然而注意到這邊的比例詞使用 mostly 這個副詞而非數量詞。
- The team consists of four Europeans and two Americans. 用法和 be made up of 一模一樣。
- It’s a simple dish to prepare, consisting mainly of rice and vegetables. 小組大常接比例，然而注意到這邊的比例詞使用 mainly 這個副詞而非數量詞。
… percent of sth is made up of sth = …的百分之…被…組成。注意到此用法相當特別！前方利用 percent 做為名詞接 of 指出大者的百分之 1。接著後方 is made up 沒有接比例，所以暗指了全部，只不過這次全部加起來只有 1 percent 的大者。
is made up of … percent sth = 被百分之…的…組成。注意到此講法的 percent 變成了「形容詞」，所以不需要 of 直接接 plasma 組成物。
consists of … percent sth = 由百分之的…組成。小組大常接比例，注意到此講法的 7 percent 變成了「形容詞」。
consist in = 存在於。此為相當文學且詩意的用法。
make up 其他意思
what you are made of = 你由什麼組成。這邊 what your are made of 除了本質上就是 make up 的被動，同時也是一個常見的 slang，被用來稱讚（如本圖例句）或者對罵。
make up for sth = 彌補 = compensate (sb) for sth。本句可改成 might compensate (the customers) for the disappointing iPhone 14.
make up for sth with = 代償 = compensates for sth with。代償的意思是，當個體因為天生的缺陷而衍生出特殊功能去補強原本的不足。
make-up = 化妝品。用來代償臉部缺陷的。
make up with sb = 和好。在彌補之後，當然就是和好。
make up for lost time = 彌補失去的時光。這個特殊用法暗指之前因為其他事情阻止所以無法做。而現在有機會了，就全力去做。

make up sth = 組成。此為「小組大」的講法，因為無明確指定範圍，所以暗指「全部」就只有 27 million
be made up of sth = 被…組成。此為「大被小組」的寫法，注意到因為沒有註明組成比例，所以「暗指全部」。
two thirds of … is made up of = 幾分之幾的… 被…組成。分數亦可算是一種百分比的概念。特別注意到， two thirds 在這裡是「名詞」，不可寫成 two-thirds（形容詞）。而當名詞用時，two thirds 本身是被切出來的「一塊」，所以應使用單數動詞 is。此外，若是三分之一應寫成 one third（沒有 s）。
account for the majority of sth = 解釋了…的主體。此為「小組大」的寫法。此圖片後面還加了一句 at 50.4 percent 補充說明了詳細的數據，此用法相當不錯。P.S. per cent 為英式寫法。

be accounted for = 能被解釋的。注意到此片語被動意思和 be made up of 完全不同！所謂「能被解釋的」在不同場合會有不同意思，例如在本句可以理解成老虎都「到齊」了，沒有在外面亂晃的老虎。
consist of = 由…組成 = is made up of 。注意「大被小組成」的用法如果寫 consist of 那意思會變成「大由小組成」，也因此「不需要被動式」。
percent of sth consist of sth = …的百分之…由…組成 = percent of sth is made up of sth
Two thirds of sth consist of sth 注意到分數後面接的名詞是複數 bodies 指的是所有的身體都是這樣。
